Especially when you plan on staying there for a long period of time. Uyo has a lot of fun packages and exciting spots waiting for you. Here are some fun places to visit in Uyo:

1. Unwind at Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort

This happens to be the largest Golf Resort in Nigeria. It covers about 135 hectares of land and has adequate facilities to engage your interest. There is a sauna, an outdoor pool, a boutique, a golf shop, a gym, restaurant & bars and a steam bath in the resort. The Marina club in the golf resort has leisure activities like squash, table tennis, lawn tennis, snooker, board games and table soccer. Ibeno beach is a white sand beach that spreads across 30km. Both foreigners and natives of the state love visiting this beach because of the many recreational facilities that abound there. Discovery Park is a nature-friendly resort situated at Udo Umana street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served and there is also a variety of local dishes like Isi-ewu, roasted chicken suya etc. The park is open every day from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm except on Sundays when it opens at 1:00 pm and closes by 11:00 pm.

Ibom Tropicana entertainment centre is a modern business and leisure resort. Multitudes of people are always strolling about this beautiful centre that bears a resemblance to the popular Disneyland in Orlando, USA and the Sun City of South Africa. Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre is situated at Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom. In the centre, you will find a shopping mall, a silverbird cinema, 5-star hotel with more than 200 rooms, a convention centre with a capacity of 5000 and a theme park. You won’t easily forget the people you meet at this park because it is a wonderful place to meet new people.

When you move or drive around the city of Uyo, you will be fascinated by the well-arranged and smooth roads that are so unlike many bustling cities in Nigeria. The experience of driving will be enjoyable, not just because of the smooth roads but also because of the beautiful scenery you will be zooming past.

7. Go Have a Look at the Magnificent Ibom Connection

The Ibom Connection is a monument that stands for unity of the people of Akwa Ibom. The Ibom Connection is situated in the centre of Uyo city. It is a magnificent work of art that’s surrounded by beautiful flowers. Uyo is one of the places in Nigeria with a lot of tourist attraction centres that boast of amazing artworks- the Ibom Connection is one of them.

8. Travel Back in Time as You Visit the National Museum of Colonial History

In the National Museum of Colonial History, you will find various collections of cultural items, artefacts, relics, carvings and valuable antiques relating to the birth of Akwa Ibom state. The museum is located at Wellington Bassey way(end), P.M.B. 1109, Uyo, Akwa Ibom,  within the governor’s office complex. The place boasts of facilities like a museum kitchen complex, research library, museum shop and museum education centre.

9. Visit Godswill Obot Akpabio International Stadium

This is a 30,000 seater ultra-modern multi-purpose sports complex that has a similar structure to the Allianz Arena. Different events take place in this stadium, ranging from social to religious events. Facilities in the stadium include box office, media facilities, floodlights, standby generator, ambulance bay, helipad, two dressing rooms, eight-lane 400m standard track, 30 emergency exit points, warm-up facility with a 6-lane 400m track, 30,000 capacity covered the main bowl, bulletproof VVIP/VIP areas etc. You will find it a delightful place to visit, especially for lovers of sports.

10. Take a Detour to the Playground

Take a break from the regular restaurants around and step into this eatery that offers all things barbecued. You will get barbecued meat, chicken, snails and pepper soup. The Playground is at 36 Dominic Utuk Avenue, Brook Street, Uyo. The smell of roast meat fills the air of this place so that your sense of smell and not just of taste is enticed.

11. Spend your Leisure Time at Unity Park

The locals of Uyo refer to it as Cenotaph. Unity Park functions as both a cenotaph to honour fallen heroes and as a public park. The Park’s location is at Udo Udoma Avenue, beside Akwa Ibom state house of assembly complex, Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state. Try out fun things here, you can attend the Armed Forces Remembrance Day which takes place annually in the park. It is also open for various social and recreational activities like weddings, birthday parties, yoga, football matches etc. The best day to visit this park is on Saturday, that is if you want to participate in any of the activities alongside many others in the park.

12. Visit the Amalgamation House

The Amalgamation House is so called because it is where Lord Lugard proclaimed the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates of Nigeria in 1914. The one-story cottage first served as the region’s administrative headquarters. It would be interesting to visit this historical building before leaving the city of Uyo.

13. Be Adventurous and try Dog Meat

The people of this part of Nigeria- Akwa Ibom/Uyo are well-known for their love of dog meat. Try throwing caution to the wind and have a taste of this meat that is served in many restaurants and eateries in Uyo.

14. Dance and Wine Away the Night at Magnum Lounge

This is an energetic nightclub in Uyo. It is located at No. 10 Udo street off Barracks Road, Uyo. At Magnum Lounge, various popular musicians come to give a live performance. There are a lot of fun things to do here, if you are lucky, you might also get to see any one of your favourite celebrities in this lounge. There is an exclusive bar for VIPs. Different kinds of drinks are available and you can also treat yourself to the delicious barbecues. Magnum Lounge is open every day from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

15. Visit the Oron Museum

The museum accommodates a good number of valuable antiques like pottery, masquerade costumes, traditional instruments etc. Also in the museum are unique and beautiful relics, artefacts and carvings. You can choose to watch the movement of small boats on the creek while relaxing at the beautiful, shaded waterfront garden or participate in other fun things at the museum.
