One of the top cities to visit in Nigeria is Lagos city. It is, so far the coolest place to ease off. Either on the mainland or the island, fun is absolutely inevitable in the weekend. During the dry seasons, the weather is usually close to perfect, never too cold, never too hot, just seemly.

It is true that spending summer in top places like Dubai, Ibiza, London and the likes, would be mind-blowing and exceptionally thrilling, but it is obviously going to be pretty expensive. However, spending a weekend in Lagos would be so much fun for so much less.

There are spot-on places in Lagos that would rid your mind of every stress therein, and leave you wishing that you could get away every other weekend. These ideas being shared are topnotch, it is no doubt that you would send in your gratitude later.

1. Paintballing at Ziggies

For lovers of action movies and for those who would like to personally simulate some James Bond moves, paintballing is the best option for you. Paintballing is an outdoor participation sport, and it is a more improved version of the childhood ‘hide and seek’ game. The game is feasible for both old and young. All you need do to is put on your safety face mask, pick up your paint gun and shoot. The paint gun usually is filled with paint, and once the paint splashes on a player, the player is disqualified.

The idea of the game is to capture your opponent’s flag while protecting yours. The good news is that the game can be played with as little as two people, or as much as over 100 people, depending on the space available. This means that you can have so much fun paintballing with your entire crew or just with your spouse. To participate in this exciting game in Lagos, you should visit the Ultimate Paintball Arena, at Ziggies Compound, Basheer Shittu Street Magodo II.

Paintballing costs about 6,000 Naira for two people. It is better experienced than described. It is however, an advise that you sign up for an eventful weekend, paintballing all the way!

2. Kayaking at the Kayak Club

Kayaking is another amazing activity to partake in during the weekend. At the Kayak Club Lagos, you can kayak with your friends. The activity gives you an opportunity to row your own little boat around a mapped portion of the water. Kayaking is fitting for mature people. Kayak involves a boat ride that could last for an hour or more. This is an interesting way to view nature from a totally different perspective.

The Kayak club is located at 17, Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi. It costs about 3,000 Naira per person for one hour. If you are interested in kayaking, you would have to specify ahead of time because only 6 hours of kayaking is allowed per day. Peradventure it rains, your booking would be scheduled for another day.

You do not have to worry about having the sufficient skill to row your little boat on the water because there are guides who would put you through the rigours of the activity and also provide life jackets to prevent any mishap. The memory of your kayaking experience is bound to never leave the four walls of your mind even after a long time. It is simply a thrilling activity to partake in.

3. Jet Ski and Quad bike at Lekki Leisure Lake

As its name implies, the Lekki Leisure Lake is a spot to catch an exclusively peaceful kind of fun. Here, you can engage in Jet skiing, ride a quad bike and partake in other equally exciting watercraft activities. This water leisure resort is along the Lekki peninsula shoreline, and it is a 5 minute’s drive from the Lekki toll plaza. The jet ski is usually done with a guide for safety reasons, and the quad bike can be done with any other person since it is done on the sand.

The entrance fee to the leisure lake is 1,000 Naira. The Jet-Ski activity costs 5,000 Naira per person for a 15 minute’s ride. The quad bike activity costs 2,000 Naira for a 15 minute’s ride. There is a mini restaurant where a variety of edibles are sold.

The resort opens only on weekends and on public holidays from 12 pm to 9 pm. The environment is also perfect for picnics, and there are provisions for indoor games. The tranquillity of the leisure lake cannot be overemphasized. You can spend quality time with friends, colleagues or with your missing rib. The idea is to help you have fun and to leave you feeling like a little child all over again.

4. Picnic party at Lekki conservation centre

The Lekki conservation centre is a serene place for a picnic party. Lekki conservation centre is located just before the 2nd Lekki Toll Gate, immediately after Chevron. Lovers of nature would find this place just ideal for a get-together. There are certain things that you would definitely love to do at the conservation centre; do the canopy walk, climb the tree house, explore the features of the park, familiarize with the park animals, just have fun!

Now, for your picnic party, the conservation centre has several raffia-made sheds where you and your friends can use. Owing to the plants and the trees in the conservation centre, the air is particularly unadulterated. You are just going to love every bit of your stay there.

The entrance fee costs just 1,000 Naira per person, and of course, you can bring in all the items you need for your picnic because there are no mini-marts or shops. No doubt, this is going to absolutely be a memorable event for you. Give it a shot.

5. Beach party at Elegushi

Elegushi beach remains one of the most sought-after beaches in Lagos. Located at Ikate Elegushi bus stop, Lekki. The beach has a cool ambience that naturally helps you relax. This beach is a perfect spot for a beach party. There are tents close to the waterfront, and so the beautiful scenery of the water would remain in view. You are allowed to play loud music, dance and have all the fun you want. You can also come with your mats if you want to have a floor picnic.

The beach also features nightclubs and restaurants that offer sumptuous meals at different rates. It is important to know that the beach usually experiences an influx of other beach lovers, so do not be afraid when you start seeing many faces. The beach is less rowdy in the morning and in the early hours of the afternoon.

6. Go-Kart at Get Arena

The Go Kart is simply an epic and pleasurable activity. You can feign some Fast and Furious racing skills, and have so much fun. The only place to go karting in Lagos is at the Get Arena. Get Arena is located at Plot 6, Abiola Oniru Estate, Lekki, Eti Osa. Apart from the kart experience, you can play arcade games or try wall climbing.

It costs about 4,000 Naira for Adults to kart, 3,000 Naira for children, and about 2,000 Naira to play arcade games. Get Arena opens from Tuesdays to Sundays, and on public holidays, but it is not in service on Mondays or on Christmas day. They close for the day by 10 pm, so even at nights, karting is still a beautiful activity because the karting routes are all lit up.

Go kart is a pleasurable activity, and for a moment, you would not be bothered about any other thing but how to race right and fast. You are certainly going to love every minute you spend here.

7. Boat Cruise at Lagos Lagoon

Lagos has lagoons and waterways. While they are basically transportation routes, they are also channels for exotic experiences. You can enjoy one of the best boats rides you can ever imagine with ‘TheLagosParty Cruise and Tours’. During the cruise, you would get to luxurious resorts like Ikaare, Snake Islands and the likes.

At the Ikaare beach house, there are side attractions that include Quad bikes, board games, beach volleyball, and many other activities. The islands are also get-away places, with private beaches and perfect restaurants.

The boat cruise can be done with other interested people (strangers), or on a more personal level, just with family. Either way, it would definitely be an unforgettable experience.

8. Party at Club Quilox

Quilox is one of the most popular clubs in Lagos. Club Quilox is located at 873, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island. Club Quilox is the best place to scream ‘TGIF!’ The club has restaurants and reservations for private events. It has renowned Dj’s that play song that is just right for you. The club is just lit!

At Club Q, you can have a pool party, drink to your satisfaction and dance off every bit of stress. There is also a sing-along karaoke bar where you can display your singing prowess.
The club opens on Wednesdays, from 10 pm to 4:30 am; Friday, from 10 pm to 5 am; Saturdays, from 10 pm to 5 am, and on Sundays, from 10 pm to 4:30 am. Karaoke holds from 6 pm to 11 pm every day.

For an exceptional weekend filled with music and light, Club Quilox is the best choice.
There are certainly amazing weekend activities to try out this summer. Yes, Summer! Though we are talking about Lagos, it won’t hurt to make yourself feel like you are somewhere in Dubai, after all, the aforementioned places radiate the same summer ambience.
